Snorkeling with the orcas

Lofoten Adventure offers Orca safaris and Snorkeling with the orcas from Skjervøy. We have daily departures from 05.11.2022 till 15.01.2023, except for the period 19.12 to 30.12

To be in the water with the orcas is a powerful experience and an unforgettable meeting with nature.

Lofoten Adventure has more then 20 years of experience in the field. Wearing a warm dry suit, a mask and snorkel you float comfortably on the surface.

When you put your head under water you will first feel the silence, and then suddenly start hearing the whales communicating with each other, then see herring and parts of dead herring floating around. You are no longer an observer, but part of it.

Meet at our base camp at Strandveien 90 in Skjervøy 09.00 . We will give a lecture about the whales and a security briefing before the safari. We will provide you with under suit, dry suit and ABC equipment.

Woolen underwear, warm woolen socks, hat and gloves.
We suggest that you bring extra clothes in case you get wet.

The safety of our guests and staff is our top priority. To help ensure our trips are as safe and enjoyable as possible, we have implemented the following measures:

  • All our snorkeling equipment and eye-masks are washed and disinfected after each tour. We alternate between two different sets of snorkeling equipment, with each set used on alternate days. Guests are also welcome to bring their own mask and snorkel. Ski masks are also useful to protect eyes from wind and in case of snow when the boat is moving more quickly at the beginning and end of the tour. Ski-style masks will be provided on the boat for any guests that wish to borrow them, or guests can bring their own. Guests may also wish to bring disinfectant wipes and/or hand sanitiser with them. We suggest all guests bring lots of thermal layers, including thick socks, hats and thick dry gloves which snorkelers may wish to change into on the way back. Hand warmers placed inside dry gloves are highly recommended.
  • We meet at Strandveien 90 in Skjervøy for a lecture and to change into the appropriate gear. We aim to keep different parties of guests separate within the hotel by using different rooms in the basement area where possible. This will help to maintain social distancing between different parties of guests.
  • Please note that on the boat, we use the front and back seats to try to keep different parties of guests apart, however this may not always be possible depending on the number of guests on each trip. Where there are both snorkelers and safari guests in the same boat, we ask the safari guests to sit closer to the front so that the snorkelers can leave and re-board the boat using the ladder at the back, without passing the safari guests at the front.
  • All staff are required to wear protective face masks during briefings and equipment checks. For those guests that are able to do so, we kindly request that face masks are worn during the briefing.

We recommend that all our guests pay special attention and adherence to the regulations and/or guidelines applicable to both Norway and the country from which you are arriving, and do not travel unless it is considered safe to do so. Also, be sure to check out the Travel Regulations Map for the latest updates.
